Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health has issued an awareness booklet entitled “Recharge at Your Desk”, which provides simple exercises designed to encourage employees to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle during office working hours.

The release of the booklet comes on the occasion of the National Sport Day, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to promoting public health and spreading a culture of physical activity.

The booklet presents a set of simple exercises that can be performed in the office, supported by short video clips accessible via QR codes that demonstrate the optimal and safe way to perform them.

The booklet includes a wide range of stretching exercises suitable for office settings. These include neck, shoulder, back, arm, wrist, and leg stretches. It also features exercises that improve flexibility and stimulate blood circulation.

Director of the Health Promotion Department at the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Salah Abdulla Alyafie, emphasised the importance of regular physical exercise. He noted that the booklet helps familiarise employees with exercises they can do at their desks. This, in turn, contributes to a noticeable improvement in their activity levels. He further explained that employees who exercise daily often enjoy better health, improved mood, higher motivation, greater endurance, and reduced workplace stress.

Regular physical activity also helps to lower the risk of many chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer. In addition, it improves sleep quality, enhances cognitive functions, and supports overall health.

The Ministry of Public Health urges all employees to make a habit of engaging in regular physical activity and to use the booklet to enhance their health. The Ministry also emphasises that adopting an active lifestyle in the workplace is a fundamental step towards improving quality of life and building a healthy and positive working environment.

The booklet can be downloaded from the Ministry of Public Health's official website and its official social media accounts.
