DOHA: ExxonMobil Qatar provided the Orphans Care Center Qatar (Dhreima) with a donation of QR 365,000 during the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2016, in support the foundation’s College Funding Program. The same will help provide Dhreima students with educational assistance to attend a local college or university.
Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar, and Issa Salman Al Kuwari, Deputy General Manager of Dhreima, took part in a check presentation at the awards ceremony of the tournament. The ceremony was also attended by Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, President of Qatar Tennis Federation and Andrew P. Swiger, Senior Vice President, ExxonMobil Corporation.
“At ExxonMobil Qatar, we believe that education drives economic destiny, and quality education helps citizens work together to create strong, capable and prosperous societies,” Routledge said.“We are pleased to support the Orphans Care Center Qatar (Dhreima) this year so that their beneficiaries can receive a college education, and so enhance their prospects of becoming effective, contributing members of society. I want to thank the Qatar Tennis Federation for providing us with a platform to once again support this worthy cause.”
ExxonMobil Qatar and Dhreima first announced their partnership during the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2014. Their support for Dhreima falls under its commitment to advance education in Qatar – particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
In line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, the company invests in education programs that motivate students to pursue careers in STEM and to reach their potential, including programmes that support teacher development and training.
