The North Indians’ Association (NIA) celebrated Annual Family Sports Day on December 1, 2017 at Mesaieed Cricket stadium.
The cricket ground was filled with great zeal, excitement and enthusiasm with more than 120 adults and children members.
NIA President-Sudhir Gupta welcomed all the members. The sports day programme began with group games in which all members were divided in four teams.
Group activities included passing the ball, shoot the goal post, stump the ball and lucky corner. Each team had minimum 21 members and each one participated with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
The group activity was won by the Green team which was captained by Shalini Tiwari and Chandrakant Chowdhary. Similarly there were sports for small kids. Winning team members and kids were given gifts.
Cricket –favorite sports and liked by most of the India’s’ was the exciting event of the day. There were four teams with 15 members in each team with participation from men, women and teenagers. All the matches were officiated by on-field Umpires – Ayesha Mohamed (National Player for QCT), Syed Hussain Lutfi, Senior Umpire Narendra Tomar and Scorer Devendra Mishra.
Team C won the final match which was captained by Lalit Pandey. Prabhat Saxena won the best all-rounder award, Sumit Gupta won the best batsman and Master Sachet Mittal won the best bowler award. Trophies were presented to the winning team by NIA MC members.
Sports Secratory Shivani Mishra and General Sec Durgesh Gupta did ground work for Cricket tournament while Kuldeep Kaur Behl, Monica Modi, Chandra gururani, Kiran Dhiman coordinated all group games. The family Sports Day programme was supported by Managing committe members, Harish Kanjani, Mukesh Singh, Sanjay Arora, Anil Mehta and Punit Jain.
