The Ministry of Transport and Communications has been honoured with a special award for developing Hamad Port as the "largest smart and environment-friendly project in the region” at the Seatrade Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa Awards 2016 held at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai.
The prize awarded to H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications, Chairman of Qatar Ports Management Company, was presented to Hassan Al-Hail and Capt. Abdulla Al-Khanji, CEO of MWANI Qatar by Christopher Hayman, chairman of Seatrade. MWANI Qatar sponsored the “Maritime Logistics Award” which was presented by Capt. Al-Khanji to the winner Mr Martijn Van de Linde CEO Abu Dhabi Terminals, said a press issued yesterday.
Ministry of Transport and Communications, represented by Qatar Ports Management Company- MWANI Qatar, and the New Port Project participated in the eighth edition of Seatrade Maritime Middle East (SMME) exhibition and conference which kicked off in Dubai on October 31 with more than 7,000 participants from 67 countries.
On this occasion the Minister's Adviser Hassan Al Hail said: “We are very delighted to receive this special honour from Seatrade which comes in recognition of achievements in one of most intelligent and largest greenfield project in the region (Hamad Port), it comes also as a confirmation of Qatar's leadership in the eco-friendly projects regionally and globally.”
“This achievement encourages us to continue our efforts and strengthen our commitment to achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added
For his part, Captain Abdullah Al Khonji, CEO of Mwani Qatar said: “The award reflects the efforts and represents a powerful incentive to pursue the excellence, developing the performance and providing competitive services in our ports.
“We are reaping the fruits of a visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar and the wise directives of our honorable Minister of Transport and Communications, HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti. Being recognised demonstrates that we are on the right track to progress as one of the leading port management companies in the region,” he added.
