63% increase in building permits issued in October

The number of building permits issued by the municipalities increased significantly by 63 percent to 589 permits in October compared to 361 permits in September.
This increase can be described as a return to normal since the previous month witnessed long Eid Al Adha holidays, lasting for ten days when all building permits services rendered by governmental agencies came to a halt, said the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics in a monthly statistics of building permits.
The increase was noted in all municipalities with Doha at 72 percent, Rayyan 14 percent, Wakrah 78 percent, Umm Slal 100 percent, Al Daayen 155 percent, Al Khor 58 percent and Al Shamal 22 percent, said the report.
Doha Municipality came at the top where the number of building permits issued was 146, which means 25percent of the total issued permits while Rayyan Municipality (including Sheehaniya) came in second with 132 permits, (22 percent), followed by Municipality of Al Wakrah with 103 permits (17 percent), municipality of Al Da'ayen with 102 permits, (17 percent). The rest of the municipalities were as follows : Umm Slal - 54 permits (9 percent), Al Khor - 41 permits (7 percent), and Al Shamal - 11 permits (2 percent).
The new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 62 percent (363 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of October 2016, while the number of additional permits constituted was 36 percent (210 permits), and finally fencing permits with 3 percent (16 permits).
The villas permits top the list, accounting for 56 percent (180 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans by 36 percent (116 permits) and apartments buildings by 6 percent (21 permits).
Industrial buildings like workshops and factories were found to be in the forefront of non-residential building permits with 36 percent (14 permits), followed by commercial buildings with 31 percent (12 permits), mosques with 21 percent (8 permits), and other non-residential buildings with 8 percent (3 permits).
The report aims at giving a brief overview of the nature of these monthly permits in terms of their geographical distribution (according to the municipalities) and types of the permits (buildings, additions, fencing) as well as details about categories of the different types of buildings, whether they are residential or non-residential.
