Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has renewed its call for owners of small craft to renew their registration licences conveniently through its official mobile application, “Darb”.
In a post on its official social media accounts yesterday, the ministry highlighted the ease and simplicity of completing the annual renewal process digitally. The service is available for small vessels under 200 tons and can be accessed anytime and anywhere via the app, eliminating the need for in-person visits to ministry offices.
“Use MoT’s ‘Darb’ app to renew your small craft’s registration license,” the ministry stated, providing direct links to download the application from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Launched in March 2025 as part of the ministry’s digital transformation drive, Darb offers a comprehensive suite of maritime services tailored for small craft owners. In addition to renewing registration licences, users can register a new small craft, modify specifications, request replacements for lost or damaged licences, delete a craft from records, obtain an ownership sequence certificate, apply for mortgage or mortgage release services, and update ownership details.
The application also allows beneficiaries to request delivery of their maritime vessel cards via Qatar Post. A built-in notification system keeps users updated on the status of their applications, while a “Contact Us” feature, the helpline 16016, and the email [email protected] provide direct channels for support. Officials noted that the digital services form part of broader efforts to modernise Qatar’s transportation sector in line with technological advancements and the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. By enabling transactions around the clock, the ministry aims to save time and effort for individuals, private companies and government institutions while enhancing public satisfaction with government services.
Registration renewal remains an annual requirement for small craft. Owners are reminded to ensure ownership documentation, valid identification, commercial registration (where applicable), insurance and related certificates are in order when submitting applications.
The Darb app is available free of charge on both major mobile platforms. The ministry encouraged all small craft owners to download it and utilise the digital channel for faster, more efficient service delivery. Further digital services related to seafarers’ affairs and land transport licensing are expected to be added to the platform in the future.
