Doha: The committee of heads of sectoral working groups responsible for preparations and follow-up on the work of the Second National Development Strategy (2017-2022) held its first meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
The meeting tackled topics related to preparations and implementation of the Second Development Strategy, including the workflow of the sectoral working groups responsible for preparing the strategy, the most important developments and challenges facing various sectors, and means of supporting implementation of the strategy.
Minister of Development Planning and Statistics H E Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabet chaired the meeting which also discussed the overall structure of the strategy, and reviewed developments related to implementation mechanisms, distribution of roles and responsibilities of members of the groups, and creating and preparing working teams to implement the strategy.
The meeting stressed commitment of all stakeholders to update the relevant strategic plan within the specified time-frame for the launch of the National Strategy 2017-2022.
Following the meeting, an expanded session was held with members of working teams nominated by ministries and other entities.
The Minister introduced the most recent and important developments regarding the work of the sectoral groups and stressed the importance of the role of each representative of the working groups in meeting the deadline for the preparation of the draft of the Second Development Strategy.
He underlined that the Second Development Strategy will be complementary and based on the First Development Strategy and added that Qatar National Vision 2030 was the starting point for all development plans.
The ministry urged all public and private national groups and civil society organisations to exert more collaborative efforts to contribute to implementation of plans and policies designed within the framework of the National Development Strategy to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, approved by the Emiri Decree No. 44 of 2008.
