DOHA: More than 39 tonnes of dates have been sold at Local Dates Festival 2016 at Souq Waqif.
The festival is also offering seedlings at very low prices. A total of 1,432 seedlings were sold during the first 12 days of the festival.
Over 20 local varieties of dates are available for sale at the festival at low prices and include Khalas, Khanizi, Arziz, Barhi, Guar, Khasab and Shishi, among others.
A 3kg pack of Khalas, the best and the most popular variety, is offered at QR20 — cheaper compared to that in the market.
The festival is organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in collaboration with Souq Waqif and runs until August 14.
