Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Press Center has condemned in the strongest possible terms the continued treacherous Iranian aggression against the State of Qatar through the launching of ballistic missiles and drones.
This constitutes a blatant violation of state sovereignty and a direct assault on the security and territorial integrity of the country. This dangerous escalation represents a grave threat to regional stability, a clear undermining of the foundations of regional peace, and places the security and stability of the people at stake.
The Center commended the high efficiency and bravery demonstrated by the Qatari Armed Forces in confronting this aggression.
Yesterday, they successfully thwarted an attack targeting the country with 17 ballistic missiles and 6 drones launched from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Our forces successfully engaged all missiles and drones with proficiency and capability, without recording any significant losses. The Center noted that the assaults were not limited to missile fire but continued through drone attacks and aircraft that breached Qatari airspace.
It emphasised that these practices reflect a dangerous escalatory approach by the Iranian side and do not, in any way, reflect a genuine desire for de-escalation or a pursuit of diplomatic solutions. Instead, they signal alarming attempts to drag the region into an open conflict that threatens its security and stability.
The Center reaffirmed that this aggression constitutes a flagrant breach of international law and the principles of good neighborliness. It is an act of aggression that cannot be justified under any pretext, given its serious threat to the security and stability of states, the targeting of civilian and strategic facilities, and the intimidation of populations. Furthermore, it undermines Qatari efforts aimed at consolidating regional security and building bridges of trust and understanding between nations.
Additionally, the Center salutes the Qatari Armed Forces and our brave soldiers for the courage and high vigilance they have shown in defending the homeland and safeguarding its sovereignty. At the same time, it appreciates the significant efforts made by the Ministry of Interior in dealing with these challenges.
