Five of Total’s employees participated in a corporate tennis competition organised recently by Qatar Tennis Federation to mark the first World Tennis Day.
The one-day tournament, held in Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, saw participation by over 28 players, and saw two of Total’s tennis players — Ward Beling and Jan Van Guyse — smoothly sail through the semi-finals.
The other participants from Total were Lionel Sabatier, Chhaya Beling and Arthur Goarin, who advanced through several rounds but did not make it to the final rounds. The five players were among the winners, finalists and semi-finalists of Total’s internal tennis rournament – Total Cup, which took place in early February, coinciding with Total’s sponsorship of Qatar Total Open 2014. “I would like to congratulate all our five players for their very good performance in the World Tennis Day corporate competition, and also thank the organisers, Qatar Tennis Federation, for this successful celebration”, said Guillaume Chalmin, Managing Director, Total E&P Qatar. “It was great to see the commitment and enthusiasm by our players in participating in this fruitful initiative, and we look forward to participating in next year’s World Tennis Day competition with an even bigger crowd”. World Tennis Day is celebrated all over the world, with the aim of enhancing tennis programmes at all levels of participation.
