A dynamic line-up of public activations, fitness challenges, panel discussions, and wellness experiences drove high levels of participation across Old Doha Port
Doha, Qatar: Old Doha Port recorded strong visitor engagement in the lead-up to and on Qatar National Sports Day, driven by the MOVE Sports Festival and a full day of free public activations on February 10, 2026. Mina Park opened its spaces across multiple locations, welcoming the community to family-friendly sports and wellness experiences designed to promote active lifestyles.
Old Doha Port also welcomed several ministers and dignitaries, including HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Former Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance; HE Gen. Hamad Ali Al-Attiya, Advisor to His Highness The Amir for Defense Affairs; HE Eng. Yasser bin Abdullah Al-Jamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth; and HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education who toured the MOVE Sports festival and the Mina Corniche.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education also delivered a series of family-friendly fitness challenges at Mina Park, opposite the Containers Yard, from 7am to 1:30pm. The celebrations were also complemented by a kite festival at Terminal Park, adding a festive atmosphere.

Commenting on the celebrations, Engineer Mohammed Abdulla Al Mulla, CEO of Old Doha Port, said: “National Sports Day at Old Doha Port demonstrates how collaboration and accessible public spaces can support healthier, more active communities. MOVE is not only about being active, but about understanding what it takes to sustain healthy and high-performing lifestyles. Through panel discussions, we shared real stories and expert insights that encouraged people to think differently about movement, wellbeing, and long-term performance. On National Sports Day, we were able to offer free and accessible activities across Old Doha Port, supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by encouraging active lifestyles and long-term wellbeing.”
Throughout the week, Old Doha Port leveraged its infrastructure and operational readiness to host a diverse public programme spanning sports, wellness, retail, and food and beverage offerings. The strong turnout highlighted the Port’s growing role as a platform for national celebrations and community-driven events.
