Riyadh: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived today afternoon in Riyadh on a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, leading the State of Qatar's delegation to the 36th session of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of Gulf (GCC), which will be held in Riyadh later in the day.
The Emir was welcomed on arrival at King Khalid International Airport by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
The Emir was also welcomed by the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; a number of princes and ministers in the Kingdom; GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani; Qatar's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani; Saudi Ambassador to Qatar Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Aifan and members of Qatar's embassy to Saudi Arabia.
A mission of honour presided by Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Dr Adel bin Zaid Al-Turaifi was formed to accompany the Emir.
The Emir is accompanied by H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the personal representative of the Emir, and the ministers comprising the official delegation. On arrival the Emir gave the following statement:
It gives me great pleasure upon arrival in Riyadh to take part in the 36th session of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of Gulf (GCC) to offer my greetings and those of the Qatar people to my brother the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia accompanied with the best wishes to him and his brotherly people.
It also gives me pleasure to great my brothers the GCC leaders who are taking part in the session, which we hope that it would come out with results living up to the level of the extremely serious regional and international challenges and contribute to enhancing the GCC drive and realizing its aspired objectives.
I pray that the Almighty Allah would help us all and make our meeting be successful for the good of our peoples and our Arab and Islamic nations.
