Doha: MES Indian School defeated Ideal Indian School by six wickets to win the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) Under-19 Inter-School Boys Cricket Tournament.
For the winners Rohan Mahendra Gawand excel with both the bat and the ball to set up the emphatic win.
Gawand took two wickets as Ideal Indian School, batting first, posted a reasonable 175 in 35 overs. Then, he led the chase and progressed to hit a brilliant 50 to fashion the victory and also win the Man-of the-Final award.
Eleven school teams from Qatar took part in the tournament namely Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM School & College, Ideal Indian School, Pak Shamaa School & College, DPS Modern Indian School, Birla Public School, Dukhan English School, Sherborne Qatar School, MES Indian School, The Cambridge School and Al Khor International School.
In a third place play-off, Adnan Butt guided Pak Shamaa School to an exciting one-wicket victory against Bangladesh MHM School.
Three players were selected for their consistent performances throughout the tournament.
Shahid Baciter of Dukhan English School scored 198 runs to win the Best Batsman’s award. Saradhy Krishnan of MES Indian School emerged as the Best Bowler with a haul of 15 wickets. Saif ur Rehman of Pakistan Education Centre was adjudged the Best All-rounder.
