Al Sada honoured with ‘Man of the Year’ award

DOHA: H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, was honoured with The Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012 Man of the Year Award at an event held here yesterday.

“The Oil & Gas Year” is the flagship title of Wildcat International, publisher of globally reputed business intelligence resources.

Conferring the award, Jack Miller, Regional Director Asia & Middle East, “The Oil & Gas Year”, said Dr Al Sada has proved to be a firm and driven leader who has already presided over the launch of many ambitious new projects. Dr Al Sada’s brief tenure has already seen the important transition from upstream to downstream projects, with the signing of important petrochemicals projects between the Qatar Petroleum and Shell, as well as the completion of the Pearl GTL gast-to-liquids project, he said.

In his acceptance speech, the Minister said the award was a recognition for the hard working people of QP and the international partners supporting it. “I accept this award on their behalf. It is because of their dedication and hardwork that Qatar managed to create a key space in the global energy map,” he said.

The award ceremony was marked by the launch of “The Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012”. The Qatar edition brings maps, graphs, articles and interviews with key decision makers involved in the industry. The Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012 provides fascinating insights into Qatar’s political environment and covers the latest developments in exploration and production, downstream, marine and shipping, infrastructure developments, research and power generation. 

With a special chapter dedicated to the Barzan Gas project, the book also focuses on the country’s banking and finance and engineering and construction sectors, as well as its associated and oilfield services segments.  Among those featured in the publication include Dr Al Sada, RasGas Managing Director Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi; and Sheikh Faisal Al Thani, deputy managing director of Maersk Oil.

Barzan Gas Proejct was named as “The Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012 Financial Deal of the Year”. The Qafco-6 urea production train was awarded The Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012 Project of the Year, while ExxonMobil Qatar, Qatar Petroleum and RasGas were all honoured for their role in the Barzan Gas Project, which was named The Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012 Finance Deal of the Year.
