Doha, Qatar: The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, held a phone call with HE Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sultanate of Oman.
During the call, they reviewed the latest developments in the military escalation between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past two days.
His Excellency expressed the State of Qatar's condemnation and rejection of the attacks targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, despite the atmosphere of de-escalation and the efforts being made to reduce tensions in the region, stressing that such actions undermine trust, threaten international navigation security, and harm efforts aimed at establishing regional security and stability.
His Excellency affirmed the necessity for all parties to adhere to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement what has been agreed upon within the framework of the memorandum of understanding, in a manner that contributes to preserving regional security, safeguarding the gains achieved, and enhancing regional stability.
During the call, His Excellency the Prime Minister renewed the State of Qatar's support for all efforts aimed at containing the escalation and reaching a comprehensive agreement that contributes to establishing security and stability, and achieves lasting peace in the region.
