Doha: Ooredoo has won the Best Mobile Application of the Year award at 2016 Qatar IT Business Awards in Doha. The award is the latest in accolades Ooredoo has won in recent months, as the company has powered ahead in supporting digital lifestyles for everyone in Qatar.
The Ooredoo App was launched in April 2013 and has become one of the most popular in Qatar, with over 500,000 downloads.
In its nomination application, the company noted the Ooredoo app’s performance, convenience and customer engagement as its experience highlights.
With the app, customers can check usage — how much data, minutes and texts they have used, remaining balance and subscribing and changing to new services without visiting a store.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “Even though our app is used by many users, it is intended to make each and every customer feel special. In this digital age, it’s still the personal relationship and trust formed with customers that brings us our brand loyalty and success.
“We’re working hard to improve our app further, thank the awards for this honour and congratulate them on another great event.”
The awards recognise contributions of Qatari companies to the country’s IT sector. The ceremony was held under an initiative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and winners were announced in the presence of Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani. The Peninsula
