DOHA: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will close the entry and exit points of Lusail Street from Labhariya Street and divert traffic. The closure starts tomorrow and lasts until end of 2017, in coordination with the Traffic Department.
With the local access entrance and exit to Lusail Street closed, Ashghal advises local road users travelling to The Pearl-Qatar and Doha to use the traffic signalised junction that connects Legtaifiya Street to Lusail Street.
Road users in the local area can access Lusail Street by using Wadi Rawdan Street and Legtaifiya Street.
The closure will allow for implementation of storm water drainage network and permanent road works on Lusail Expressway.
With a reduction of traffic on Al Istiqlal Street, Ashghal expects better traffic between The Pearl-Qatar and Doha.
Ashghal will install road signs advising road users of the diversion and has urged road users to abide by speed limits and follow signs for safety.
Back roads open
Ashghal has opened three bi-directional back roads near the Industrial Area, behind Barwa Commercial Avenue.
They are part of Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension project being implemented by Ashghal within its Expressway Programme. Another two back roads will be opened in the third quarter of this year.
The back roads include five bi-directional roads extending over 8km. Three have been opened and the remaining two are nearing completion.
Once complete, the five roads will provide easy and safe access to offices and commercial and residential establishments near the Industrial Area.
The roads also include car parking, pavement and landscaping.
The back roads network is part of Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension project, which includes construction of a 17km dual carriageway along Bu Hamour/Al Muntazah Street from East Industrial Road Intersection to Woqod Intersection.
The main road will include four lanes in each direction, separated by a median, with adjacent service roads along the line.
The main line of F-Ring Road will include three lanes in each direction, separated by a median.
Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension project will contribute to improving traffic and ease congestions.
It will also connect the Industrial Area with the centre of Doha City, facilitate access to Barwa City and commercial areas, and connect F-Ring Road with Wholesale Market Street and Mesaimeer Road in addition to providing a wide network of pedestrian and cyclist lanes to enhance safety.
