Doha: Qatar Charity raised QR5.5m for the Syrians through a special episode of its #Relieve Aleppo campaign on ‘Tafreej Korba’ radio show.
Produced by QC in cooperation with Quran Radio, the show is aired on Tuesdays at 8pm. The episode discussed the priorities and needs of the people of Aleppo and facilitated donations on air. The show hosted Sheikh Abdul Salam Al Basyoni and Sheikh Hassan Al Husseini and was presented by Abdul Rahman Al Harami and Haqer Al Shahwani.
The episode highlighted the situation in Aleppo and tragic incidents happening there as the world remains silent. It encouraged philanthropists in Qatar to stand by their Syrian brothers and sisters so the latter would enjoy some peace and security. During the episode, a relief campaign was inaugurated to cover medical and food services, including food baskets, water tanks and ambulances. The initiative aims to achieve a target of QR10m for the benefit of some 20,000 Syrians.
Sheikh Hassan said: “Helping the needy is helping ourselves since the reward for doing so is great,” he said. Sheikh Abdul Salam stressed the role as Muslims to relieve our brothers and sisters. “Aleppo is now the most dangerous region worldwide. It is the first time for prayer to be prohibited in mosques because of the severity of the situation,” he said.
