Aliyev honours Al Nasser with Presidential Medal of First Class

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has awarded the Presidential Medal of First Class to Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al Nasser, High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations, in recognition of his efforts to promote the culture of peace and dialogue among civilisations at the global level in general and between the UN organisations and Azerbaijan in particular.
President Aliyev and Al Nasser opened the Seventh International Conference of the Alliance of Civilisations in Baku on April 26 which continued for two days, and concluded with the issuance of the Baku Declaration.
The declaration was adopted by UN member states and focused on the concept of co-existence and respect of others, respect for religions and acceptance of cultural and civilisational diversity with emphasis on the role of education in promoting these concepts.
The conference witnessed a large and effective participation at the level of heads of state and government, foreign ministers,  journalists and opinion makers and thought.QNA
