Hong Kong---Hong Kong shares climbed 2.58 percent in the opening minutes of trade Thursday, extending the previous day's rally that saw the index close at a seven-year high.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 676.42 points to 26,913.28.
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 0.20 percent, or 8.13 points, to 4,002.94.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.21 percent, or 4.40 points, to 2,104.63.
