Workers line up for meals at one of the locations in the country.

DOHA: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has distributed 10,000 meals to expatriate workers at several places in Doha and on its outskirts in the first phase of its ‘Together for Benevolence’ programme.
The programme serves expatriate workers, with QR930,000 funding from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company Qatar LLC.
Over five days, the QR100,000 first phase distributed 10,000 meals, in coordination with the public and private meal providers and logistic partners.
According to the plan, the best work places were selected in terms of the number of workers and when they are available.
They included Doha Grand Park; the Rail worksites in Umm Ghuwailina, Mansoura, Duhail, the Pearl-Qatar, and two sites in the Airport district; two sites in Lusail Expressway, workers residents in Dukhan; new Qatar Foundation premises; infrastructure projects in Duhail, Dafna, Al Rayyan, Nuaija, and Najma; road works around Midmac Roundabout; Holiday Villa expansion in Najma; port and municipality workers on the Corniche; and new buildings in Dafna and Wadi Al Sail.
Field visits were made to the beneficiary companies and projects across the country to inform them about the project’s goals, results and past lessons learnt.
Having been reassured that the distributions would not interfere with the work progress, the management of these enterprises approved and facilitated the project.
This year, the programme is targeting 25,000 expatriates, particularly construction, road and municipality workers.
It involves three phases: Distribution of 10,000 food meals (QR100,000); distribution of 10,000 water and juice bottles (QR30,000), and distribution of 5,000 hygiene kits (QR 800,000).The Peninsula
