DOHA: Respiratory Therapy students and faculty at College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) showcased their skills and the results of their experiential education in the courtyard of the College this week to celebrate Lung Health Day.

Lung Health Day is an annual event on campus which profiles the importance of Respiratory Therapy as an allied health profession, and for the community at large to learn about aspects of the profession. During the event, the College community was able to get their lung capacity checked, learn about intubation, and receive advice on smoking cessation.

“Allied health professionals, such as Respiratory Therapists, are a vital part of the healthcare continuum in the country. We are thrilled that our students are engaging in community education, which is a component of their learning and also strengthens community knowledge to build capacity and healthy societies,” said School of Health Sciences Dean, Dr. Andrea Smilski.

This year CNA-Q’s Lung Health Day was held during Doha Healthcare Week to reinforce the importance of a well-rounded approach to health and lifestyle in Qatar. Later in the week, the College’s Medical Radiography students will display their skills on campus and also attend Aspetar World Radiography Day.
