The Health Monitoring Section at Doha Municipality last month closed 13 erring outlets in 2,041 inspection raids.
The meat unit at the municipality checked 58,014 slaughtered sheep and destroyed 426 whole slaughtered sheep while partial portions of meat weighing 1.9 tonnes was also destroyed.
It also checked 594 slaughtered cows and destroyed 4 slaughtered whole cows and partially destroyed 70kg meat, in addition to checking 513 camels among which 3 were destroyed.
The unit also inspected 755 tonnes of fish and destroyed 3 tonnes, inspected 10,005 tonnes of fruit and vegetables and destroyed 47 tonnes.
The municipality also shut down two restaurants for 15 days in new Al Mirqab for preparing food in unhealthy conditions. Inspectors of the municipality also found a restaurant in Duhail preparing and storing food in labour accommodation in unhealthy conditions.
In Industrial Area, inspectors found a food facility violating the law number 8 of the year 1990, regulating human food control. They found some expired food unfit for human consumption, workers without valid health certificate among others.
