Doha: World No. 1 Ramy Ashour (pictured) of Egypt has pulled out of the Qatar Classic tournament which begins here from Sunday at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex.

Despite his semi-final lost at the World Championship in Manchester Ashour  was the top seed for the Qatar Classic, a PSA World Series event.

The 26-year-old took to his facebook page to announce his withdrawal.

“Just got out of the hospital and the doctors advised me not to play qatar open so that my hamstring injury wont get any worse... lets thank the LORD for whatever he has for us...,” wrote the Egyptian, a Qatar Classic winner in 2006.
