QU-BRC to hold workshop on ‘emerging pathogens’

DOHA: The Biomedical Research Center at Qatar University (QU-BRC) will organise a workshop on “Emerging Pathogens at the Human-Animal-Environment Interface” on October 11-12 in conjunction with Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). 
The two-day event aims to provide ministry representatives and professionals within Qatar and beyond an opportunity to network and develop collaborative activities, and to share up-to-date scientific research ‎findings, a “One Health” training and outreach model systems against environmental infectious diseases (EID).
Discussions will focus on the establishment of a global knowledge-sharing platform, the various activities of the International Congress on Pathogens at the Human Animal Interface (ICOPHAI), and the procedures for organizing a global conference in Doha in 2017. 
The workshop comes in line with Qatar’s efforts to prevent ‎and control the emerging of human, animal and environmental infectious diseases. 
It is developed among global partners including QU, Ohio State University, and ICOPHAI, as well as other local, ‎regional and global partners.
BRC Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases Dr Hadi Yassine said: “This workshop (AGI-02-P6) is a Category 1 - Accredited Group Learning Activities as defined by the Accreditation Department of Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners. It is also approved for a maximum of 10.25 credit hours for all topics.”
