Doha: HEC Paris in Qatar, one of the world’s leading providers of executive education, has honoured the latest graduating classes of 2019 for its international Executive MBA (EMBA) and the Specialised Master in Strategic Business Unit Management (SBUM) degree programmes. The convocation ceremony was held at the Qatar Foundation’s Ceremonial Court for all the Education City partners, yesterday.

Dr Nils Plambeck, Dean and CEO of HEC Paris in Qatar, and Jean-Paul Vermis, Chairman of the HEC Paris Board, attended the ceremony. With the underlying theme as ‘Door to the Future’, the 2019 ceremony focused on the convocation as the time for transformation and growth for graduates. Among the 129 graduates of HEC Paris in Qatar for 2019, 95 students were Qataris, which comprised 65 female and 30 male students whereas the total number of women and men in the class was 74 and 55, respectively. This was a remarkable year for HEC Paris in Qatar where women participants outnumbered their male counterparts.  This year’s graduates also included nationals from Europe, Central & South Asia, Middle East & North Africa, Sub-Sahara & Africa, and North America.

Dr Nils Plambeck, said, “Being a member of Qatar Foundation allows HEC Paris to unite academic excellence of world-class Executive Education programmes with a stimulating learning environment in Qatar, empowered by the unique education ecosystem of QF. And this convocation ceremony is a great platform to showcase the learning experiences of visionary leaders of Qatar as well as some of the most influential leaders of the world to inspire and ignite vigour among our graduates.”

Professor Peter Todd, Director General and Dean of HEC Paris, said, “The constantly growing number of graduates year on year is the reflection of our long-standing academic excellence, which is fast penetrating into Qatar’s educational landscape. We are delighted to see business leaders enhancing their knowledge and skillsets and transforming the future of the Qatari economy, he said.

Todd added, “We are confident that during the coming years, HEC Paris in Qatar will further strengthen its role of a key enabler in realising the Qatar National Vision 2030.” Since joining Qatar Foundation in 2010, HEC Paris has graduated 593 participants in Qatar ‑ 279 in the EMBA programme and 314 in the SBUM programme.
