DOHA: Inam sealed his individual class on the Division A final with a stellar all-round performance and helped Al Feroz Youngsters Club win the Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament with a big 84-run defeat over Commercial Bank.
Qatar Airways, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, is the sponsor of the cricket tournament, organised by the Qatar Cricket Association.
At the Industrial Area Stadium, Commercial Bank’s decision to field first looked justified when they skittled Al Feroz out for a modest 208 in 47 overs.
However, Man-of-Match, Inam had other intentions. He ripped through the batting of the bank team and scalped five players to engineer the big triumph after the rivals folded at 124 in 39 overs.
Faisal (27), Rusharat Ali (24) and Umer Taj (20) could resist the Al Feroz bowlers and pushed the score past 100-mark.
Apart from Inam’s impressive five-wicket haul, Nadeem, Haroon, Mohammed Boota and Khurram picked a wicket each.
Earlier, Inam laid the base for his team’s 208, hammering a match-high 67.
Boota hit 28, Khurram got 26 and Faisal notched 21. Zaheer was the pick of the bowlers, getting three wickets.
Parvez Khan grabbed two, while Sardar and Sajjad shared other two.
Mr Ali Akbar Farabi, Sales Manager of Qatar Airways, and former Indian Test player Venkatapathi Raju, who is now the ACC Development Officer, were the Guests of Honour at the closing ceremony and gave away the trophies and prizes.
Also present on the occasion were QCA Secretary-General Mr Manzoor Ahmad, Malik Nazar (Technical Advisor), Gul Mohammad Khan Jadoon (Head of Domestic Cricket), Mohammad Akram (PRO), Amjad Baig (Coach), Amin Ul Islam (Members of School Boys Cricket), Hassan Raza (Joint Secretary), Ch.Mukhtar Ahmad (Senior Coach).
