Doha: The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs has issued two new forms for workers and employers to notify the other party about change of job, termination of contract or to leave the country.
The step has come as part of the process of enforcing the provision of law No 21/2015 enforced on December 13, 2016.
The first form is for the employee to inform the employer about the desire to end the contract and leave the country or change job, but there is a need to identify the type of the contract whether it is fixed or open ended
contract. The form needs to be signed by only the employee.
While filling the form, the applicant needs to choose among the reasons stated in the form, which includes
1) ending contract to leave the country due to employer’s abuse,
2) to change job in case of indefinite contract (after the five-year duration)
3) end job contract to change employer (if the employer’s harassment is confirmed)
4) change employer by the end of the limited contract duration.
5) changing jobs in the case of household workers
The second form is to be used when both employer and employee have consented to the decision and both needs to sign the form.
This form also lists a number of reasons including
1) end of contract to change job with consent of the two parties while the contract is still valid,
2) to end the contract and leave the country before the end of the contract duration
3) to change employer seeking different job (for household or family jobs)
4) to end the contract during the probation period and end contract because of termination (disciplinary action) and leave the country.
This form needs to be used by the employer if he wants to send notice to the employee or it can be used by the employee also.
The forms, available now in Arabic, needs to be filled properly and signed at the appropriate space. The signed form needs to be scanned and attached while applying for job change.
