The Cultural Village Foundation- Katara has organised the “International conference on encouraging dialogue and diversity through cultural industries.”

The event saw the attendance of Katara’s Head of Marketing and Communications Department, Darweesh Ahmad; Unesco representative in the Gulf, Dr Anna Paolini; the Secretary-General of the National Commission for Education, Culture and Science in Qatar, Dr Hamda Al Sulaiti, and representatives of diplomatic missions to Doha.

Welcoming the participants, Ahmad said: “Your efforts in enhancing the values of dialogue and cultural diversity through crafts and handicraft professions are highly appreciated. I therefore, wish the sessions of this conference enrich this vital traditional and cultural issue, as the output of your distinguished meeting will be regarded as a valuable reference in our bid to protect creativity, upgrade skills and boost talent; to have a better engagement in the cultural development plan.”

“Katara has given top priority to all issues and themes linked to the deeply-rooted traditions and national cultural heritage, as we are strongly determined to shoulder the responsibility of preserving the legacy left by our forefathers from neglect, forgetfulness and extinction. Katara’s journey to revive this great legacy of the past has witnessed us hosting, organising and staging dozens of unique cultural activities and events,” he added.

Dr Paolini said: “It is my pleasure to inaugurate this conference. It’s not only a conference. We are celebrating a full year of activities that the three partners have been doing since January 2016.”
