Doha: Qatar General Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) participated in the Annual General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that was convened in San Francisco of the United States of America and continued for five days.
ISO delegation was headed by Director of Standards and Metrology Qatar General Organisation for Standardisation (QS) Eng. Nawaf Ibrahim Al Hamad Al Mana.
The agenda of the meeting included several side meetings of technical committees for standards, administrative and advisory entities in addition to the regular session of the General Assembly of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
The meeting reviewed the periodic reports of the Secretary-General and president of IEC on the activities and works of IEC during the past period.
It also discussed the reports submitted by Chairman of the Administrative Council for Standardisation and the Administrative Council for Conformity Assessment, where the budget of IEC for the year 2023 was approved, including the future plan for the years 2024-2025.
It is worth mentioning that the State of Qatar has been an active member since it joined IEC in 2008, which currently includes 173 members.
Qatar also participates in several committees specialised in preparing nationally important electrotechnical standards.
