Doha: The Public Works Authority, (Ashghal), will implement a minor traffic diversion on a roundabout on Mesaieed Road, approximately 14 kilometres south of Al Wakra.
The temporary detour, which comes in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will be implemented at midnight on Thursday, November 10, 2016 and lasts for three months.
The road change will enable the construction of a critical interchange that will connect the new Hamad Port to the Orbital Highway and Truck Route project.
During the diversion, road users travelling southbound from Al Wakra to Mesaieed will be detoured to a purpose-built loop road for a short distance of 300 metres before rejoining Mesaieed Road, as shown on the map.
Road users travelling northbound from Mesaieed to Al Wakra, eastbound to the New Hamad Port or westbound to the Industrial Area, will be unaffected by the diversion.
The new loop road will have the same road capacity, and road users will still have access to two lanes in all directions.
With the camping season now underway, Ashghal reminded road users to exercise special care while driving to their campsite, by reducing speed and following newly installed diversion road signs. The Public Works Authority urged all road users to abide by the speed limit, which remains at 50 kph, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
