DOHA: Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) has announced the launch of its global arm in Hague. From the city in Holland, Muntajat will run its international marketing company Muntajat Besloten Vennoot (Muntajat BV).
The Doha-headquartered company, which was launched in the second half of 2012, holds exclusive rights to purchase, market, distribute and sell Qatar’s 10 million tonnes production of chemical and petrochemical regulated products to the global market.
The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) and the West Holland Foreign Investment Agency (WFIA) advised and assisted Muntajat in its location decision.
Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Muntajat H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada described the establishment of the marketing headquarters as an important milestone for Muntajat. He said “Today, Muntajat enters a new phase in the very short time since it was established a year ago, building scale and reaching an international level. As the company that represents the chemical, polymer and fertiliser products of the State of Qatar abroad, Muntajat’s presence in the Netherlands will provide a strategically located base for reaching customers in markets around the world.”
Dr Al Sada hailed the efforts of the Qatari and Dutch sides that led to the conclusion of this agreement, and said “as Muntajat grows, I am confident that this relationship will be mutually beneficial for many years to come.”
“The establishment of Muntajat BV in the Netherlands and the organisation of its operations in The Hague are important milestones in the development of Muntajat, less than one year since its launch,” said Muntajat CEO Abdulrahman Ali Al Abdulla. “As a country that is also a regional hub for energy and chemical products, the fit between Qatar and the Netherlands is logical. We look forward to opening our international marketing headquarters as the next step towards our ambition of becoming the leading marketer of chemicals and petrochemicals worldwide.”
Muntajat BV, a Netherlands corporation, provides marketing services to Muntajat, the gateway to Qatar’s high-quality chemical, polymer and fertilizer exports. The marketing services are performed by Local Marketing Offices (LMO’s) located in strategic locations globally to serve both local customers and customers in nearby countries. Incorporated on July 1, 2013, Muntajat BV will be headquartered at The World Trade Center, in The Hague. Muntajat BV will have approximately 150 employees in more than 30 offices serving more than 120 countries worldwide.
“We chose the Netherlands as the home for Muntajat BV for several reasons — its favourable business climate, its reputation as an internationally oriented country and its quality and multilingual workforce,” said Yousef Jeham Al Kuwari, Chairman of Muntajat BV and Executive Director, Marketing & Sales of Muntajat. Al Kuwari added that the proximity of The Hague to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, Schiphol Airport and international chemical and petrochemical companies also contributed to the decision.
