DOHA: Three local charity organisations have joined hands to launch massive religious, cultural and social programmes during Ramadan.
They are Qatar Charity (QC), Eid Charity, and Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF). The programmes are being launched under the theme ‘Ramadanana yajmana’ (Our Ramadan Month Made Us Together).
The initiative includes religious and cultural seminars, poetry sessions on the life of the Prophet (PBUH), workshops on social works and human resources and programmes for children. The main programme entitled ‘Al Mulhim’ (Inspired) will be held in Al Shula (torch) hall at Aspire Zone while more than 70 activities will be organised throughout the country during the Holy Month.
Famous Islamic scholars and preachers will address the audience on the life and teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) and other religious matters. “The joint effort aims to develop the local communities — a social responsibility being taken up by local charities,” Yousef Ahmad Al Kuwari, CEO, QC, told a press conference yesterday. He said QC hopes that cooperation of charity organisations will continue in coming years. “We are ready to make establish partnerships for the development of society,” he added. Charity organisations can share their experiences with each other through cooperation, which will help them hold successful programmes, said Ali Al Suwaidi, Director-General, Eid Charity. With contribution of all three charity organisation, more programmes will be held to reach out to the maximum number of people, said Dr. Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, RAF.
