Brewers end losing streak at MLB

EW YORK: Home runs from Carlos Gomez, Martin Maldonado and Jean Segura spurred Milwaukee Brewers snap out of an offensive funk and end a two-game losing streak with a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at MLB.
Milwaukee (22-11) came into the game with baseball’s best record despite dropping four of its last five games, averaging just 2.6 runs per game during that stretch.
Second baseman Aaron Hill went 4-for-4 with a walk and drove in a pair of runs for the D-Backs (11-24). Max Scherzer pitched eight scoreless innings and the Detroit Tigers stretched their winning streak to six games with a victory over the Houston Astros.
Scherzer (4-1), who has won four consecutive starts, gave up just three hits while striking out nine for the Tigers (18-9).
Rajai Davis singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh and designated hitter Victor Martinez added a solo homer while right fielder Torii Hunter had two singles to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
Shelby Miller won his third straight start as the Cardinals built a lead and held on for a victory that extended the Braves’ losing streak to seven games.
Miller tossed five innings while Cardinals (17-16) closer Trevor Rosenthal struck out left fielder Justin looking with two on in ninth inning to record his 9thsave in as many chances.REUTERS
