Food baskets to be distributed to beneficiaries.

DOHA: Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has distributed 1,700 baskets of foodstuff to the needy in Medan, the capital city of Indonesia’s North Sumatra province.
More than 10,000 people benefited from the largesse of RAF. The distribution was made in collaboration with a local partner of RAF in Indonesia, Al Risala Charity Organization.
The organization conducted a survey to shortlist the most deserving people as potential beneficiaries.
The baskets included basic food items like rice, edible oil, sugar, salt, milk powder, eggs, baby food and vegetables.
A basket was enough for a family of five to six for at least a month.
Indonesia was chosen to be provided humanitarian aid because millions of people there are facing hardships due to poverty.
The country is going through severe financial crises.
Purchasing power of the people has deteriorated amidst soaring inflation and lack of job opportunities.
RAF launched several development projects including surface water wells, orphan houses, mosques and centres for reciting the Holy  Quran.
RAF urged potential donors to extend a helping hand to support its charity projects being implemented in Qatar as well as overseas. Donors can approach in person the collection centers of RAF which are located all over the country or make donation through their bank accounts or they can call on hotline 55341818. The Peninsula
