Doha: Aspire Academy celebrated attaining an accreditation from Council of International Schools (CIS). The award follows a five-year application process and is the latest in several accreditations obtained by the academy.
The ceremony was attended by Tariq Al Naama, Vice-President, Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF); Mohammad Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Acting CEO, AZF; Abdulla Al Naimi, Director-General, Aspire Logistics; Ivan Bravo, Director-General of the academy; Dr Ahmed Al Emadi, Chairman, Advisory Council at the academy; heads of departments, teachers, staff, students and families.
Christine Bayliss, School Support & Evaluation Officer, CIS, presented the certificate to Bravo; Jassim Al Jabir, School Principal; and Badr Al Hay, Director, Education and Student Care.
Bravo said: “Aspire is the seventh educational institution in Qatar to obtain a CIS accreditation. I would like to thank our staff, teachers and students who have been part of this five-year journey to obtain this accreditation.
“Through their continual efforts, we have attained a clear standard of international excellence and we should all be proud of this achievement. It’s yet another step towards realising the academy’s vision to be recognised as the world’s leading sports academy in the development of youth athletes by 2020.”
Bayliss said: “Aspire has done an excellent job in developing the quality of education and focusing on meeting the needs of its student-athletes.
“It has also demonstrated it is committed to continuous improvement. The team is dedicated to developing the academy as a centre of international excellence.
“Students have the opportunity to be part of a school where standards are very high and which provides them with opportunities to pursue studies further at universities around the world if they wish.”
Al Jabir said: “The process of obtaining the accreditation supports our efforts to provide the best possible education to our students. This is a crucial part of the academy’s appeal in attracting sporting talent and providing confidence to parents that the education provided to their sons meets the highest international standards.
“The accreditation confirms the quality and excellence of all we provide in terms of our curriculum, policies, departments, focus on student care, dormitories and facilities, academic support and guidance.
“It is clear that we are operating at the very highest international standards.”
In 2007, the academy was awarded membership of European Foundation for Quality Management (EFMQ), one of the leading quality management institutions in the world. As a result, the academy has now secured the ‘Committed to Excellence’ accreditation.
