Ankara: The preliminary investigations into the crash of the aircraft carrying Libyan Chief of Staff General Mohammed Al Haddad revealed damage to the black box and cockpit voice recorder, said Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu on Wednesday.
Uraloglu clarified that the damage to the recording devices prevented data extraction within Turkiye, noting that only a limited number of countries possess the technical capabilities and advanced expertise required to decrypt such complex data.
Accordingly, the authoritative agencies have decided to transfer the black box and cockpit voice recorder to the United Kingdom, where the data will be unpacked as part of an international probe, in collaboration with specialised technical bodies, to ensure accurate and transparent results regarding the causes of the incident, he pointed out.
The aircraft, which was carrying Al Haddad and his accompanying delegation, including Lt. Gen. Al Fitouri Ghrabil, Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Al Gatawi, Mohammed Al Asawi, alongside photographer Mohammed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub, crashed while returning from an official visit to Ankara on Dec. 23, 2025, resulting in the death of all on board.
