Leading experts from Qatar and France will discuss energy and environment matters over the next two days during the Qatari-French Academia & Industry Initiative 2016.
For the first time, Total and the French embassy, is organising a joint innovation forum bringing together leading academics, researchers, scientific professors and industry experts from Qatar and France to explore future challenges and solutions for energy and the environment. This forum is one of the many initiatives launched by Total this year to celebrate its 80th anniversary of continuous presence in Qatar. It is placed under the high patronage of Qatar Foundation (QF) and Qatar University (QU). Institut Francais du Qatar, Engie, Veolia and Alstom are sponsors of this event alongside Total.
The opening of the Forum was attended by H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, by Eric Chevallier, Ambassador of France to the State of Qatar and Guillaume Chalmin, Managing Director of Total EP by Qatar and Group Representative.
This forum, which takes place December 5-6 in QF and QU premises, comes as a support for the National Priority Program 10th cycle. Areas of common interest for Research and Development will be investigated among the Qatari and French institutes’ representatives, and with Qatari and French industrials and collaborative projects are expected to be submitted in joint proposals to this cycle.
This event is also an opportunity to identify opportunities of collaborations in education between Qatari and French institutions.
The keynote speeches of the Qatari-French Academia & Industry Innovation Forum was delivered by Guillaume Chalmin who presented the Forum expectations; as well as by Dr. Hamad Al-Ibrahim, Executive Vice President of Qatar Foundation Research and Development who presented Qatar Foundation and Qatar Foundation Research and Development
Pierre Montaud, Director of TRC-Q (Total Research Center in Qatar) emphasizes on this event as “an opportunity to strengthen ties between the education sector and the energy industries, to build strong bridges and interactions between the two in order to achieve business sustainability and innovation. This will be a sustainable initiative for the energy and environment.”
Total’s collaboration with Qatar’s top universities and French embassy aims to create a dynamic global community where leading educators work together with industry stakeholders for various initiatives and to develop the energy sector.
