Doha, Qatar: Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic H E Edil Baisalov participated in the first meeting of the leaders of the Global Alliance to Combat Hunger and Poverty yesterday held within the framework of the Second World Summit on Social Development being held in Doha.
Speaking from the rostrum of the summit, Edil Baisalov said, “Hundreds of millions of people around the world suffer from hunger, poverty and deprivation this is a tragedy that requires our common humanity and decisive collective action.
“We are obliged to do everything in our power to alleviate their suffering. However, special words of solidarity are addressed to the Palestinian people, who today are experiencing a 100 percent artificial famine, a form of international crime.”
The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that Kyrgyzstan has joined the Global Alliance to Combat Hunger and Poverty, sharing the universal goals of eradicating poverty and ensuring food security for all. He stressed that humanity cannot tolerate the fact that millions of people are deprived of the most basic right -- the right to life and food. The Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty was established at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2024 to promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
It currently includes 104 countries.
