Director of Operations for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Gaza Strip (UNRWA) Bo Schack expressed his thanks and appreciation for the leading and major role played by the State of Qatar in supporting Palestinian people through the implementation of different projects and programs, especially in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement to Al Sharq newspaper yesterday, he praised the joint collaboration between Qatari institutions and "UNRWA" in alleviating the suffering of the Gazan people.
Bo Schack said that Qatar clearly contributed to the development of the infrastructure in the sector and worked to fund many education, health and relief projects, adding that there is coordination and cooperation with the State of Qatar through their own representative institutions in Gaza by implementing projects and development programs for necessary areas of life in Gaza.
He explained that the blockade of the Gaza Strip forms a great tragedy and destruction of the private sector which has a negative impact on job creation in addition to its impact on issues related to water, energy and movement.
Bo Schack said that he had experienced a variety of reconstruction in a number of countries including Europe and the reconstruction of houses in Afghanistan, stressing that the process of reconstruction is one of the most difficult processes in any context.
He stressed that UNRWA has made a great progress in rebuilding two thousand houses, but there are many factors such as donor support, limitations, available capabilities and the blockade, which can influence the progress made in this area positively or negatively.
