Doha: The Katara Traditional Dhow Festival returns for its sixth year with additional competitions and more participants expected, said Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti. The annual event held under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will run from November 15 to 19 at Katara beach.
In addition to diving, spinning, rowing, Hadaq and Al Lufah competitions, two more traditional competitions have been included to this year’s edition including boat launching and Al-Nahmah, all reflecting the country’s maritime heritage.
Registration for the competitions which are open to all GCC nationals is on. Applications are being received at Katara’s beach management building until Thursday from 9am to 3pm.
