The new Indian Ambassador P Kumaran has requested his countrymen to follow the embassy’s social networking accounts,

He said it would help the embassy to reach community members easily, especially in case of making any important announcement. The Ambassador was speaking at a community reception held recently.

“I was surprised to find a few days ago that, despite our community size of nearly 650,000, the Embassy’s Twitter account had only 11,000 followers. Similar is the case with our Facebook account. I would like you to promote registration on our Facebook and Twitter accounts in much larger numbers, so that any announcement we make can directly reach the entire community,” said Kumaran.

Members of several Indian community organizations were present at the event held at the Marriot Hotel in Doha. Kumaran praised the Indian community in Doha for the good reputation they have earned.

“I must share with you the high regard that the Qatari leadership has for the contribution of the Indian community in the growth and development of Qatar. Let me congratulate each one of you. You have earned a reputation for being disciplined, hard-working and law-abiding,” he said.  Kumaran also said that there is a plan to merge all Indian associations in Qatar related to sports.

“In my discussions in the last few days with several senior community members, there was an interesting suggestion made. This involves setting up a separate apex body for sports, which brings together all sports related associations in our community under a single platform. By doing this, we will be also to engage more effectively with Qatari sports organisations and enhance our partnership in the run-up to FIFA World Cup 2022,” he said.
