Doha: The fourth edition of Workers Cup tournament comes to a thrilling end this evening with two matches, a joint initiative of Qatar Stars League and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
The first match will be a 3rd/4th playoff between Larsen & Toubro and Mowasalat. Both narrowly missed out on the final and will look to finish on a high and claim third place.
Larsen & Toubro were edged out by a solitary goal by Taleb group, while Mowasalat lost 4-2 on penalties to finalists Gulf Contracting Co. The match starts at 4.45pm at Al Ahli stadium.
The main event will see Gulf Contracting Co take on Taleb group in the fourth final. Over 6,000 fans are expected to see one of the sides lift the Workers Cup trophy.
Gulf Contracting Co took third spot in the 2015 edition, and will look to go one step further this time. They have enjoyed a fine run to the final, and have been defensively resolute.
They have not conceded a goal in 90 minutes during the knockout phase and will hope for a similar defensive performance.
Taleb Group have defied expectations and reached the final at the first time of asking.
They have remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, including an eye-catching 3-1 win in the round of 16 against Shapoorji Pallonji. They will hope to cap off a memorable maiden appearance and go all the way to lift the title. It promises to be a fascinating afternoon of football, packed with excitement as four sides look to battle it out for Workers Cup glory.
