Hong Kong--Hong Kong stocks gained 0.91 percent by noon on Wednesday, bouncing back after a decline the previous day despite worries about higher oil prices and worsening tensions over the Greek debt crisis.
The benchmark Hang Seng index added 251.37 points to 28,006.91 by the mid-session break.
Chinese shares were also higher at midday, after Shanghai's benchmark index dropped more than four percent on Tuesday.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.35 percent, or 57.99 points, to 4,356.70.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, jumped 2.04 percent, or 45.17 points, to 2,263.06.
