DOHA: Habib Zada blasted a hurricane 142 to fashion a convincing 127-run victory for Commercial Bank Club against Qatar Under-19 Eleven in their ‘Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament, Division A, clash.
Qatar Airways, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, is the sponsor of the cricket tournament, which is being organized by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) at the West Bay Grounds and Industrial Area Stadium.
Batting first at the Industrial Area Stadium, Habib sent the Under-19 team on a leather hunt and powered his way to 142 as his team reached 272 for five in 45 overs.
Faraz (34), Waleed (30) and Rusharat Ali (28 not out) produced useful knocks to support Habib at the other end. Clarke picked two wickets.
Qatar Under-19 Eleven failed to bear the run pressure and collapsed at 145 with four overs to spare.
Uzair batted well to reach 45 while Jehangir made 31.
Umer caused the biggest damage, taking four wickets.
Sardar grabbed three wickets without allowing the rivals to recover from a poor start.
At the West Bay Grounds, Itminan hit 91 and Imran snared four wickets to inspire Qatari Diar Club to an emphatic 88-run victory against Rawal County.
Itminan went after the bowlers and quickly approached the coveted three-figure mark but he missed it by nine runs.
His team, however, prospered to get 280 in 50 overs on the board.
Raheel (24), Allah Ditta (27), Iqtidar (22) and Mannan (24) kept the momentum going from both ends.
Rawal County maintained a brisk runrate but could not hold their wickets, before getting all out for 193 in just 33.4 overs.
Imran’s haul and two wickets each by Allah Ditta and Mannan brought about the quick downfall of the rivals.
Zafar top-scored with 40, while Bilal and Atif made 22 each.
Abbas Shah and Tanveer shared six Lions RFC wickets and Khurram smashed 52 not out to set up an eight-wicket romp for Asian Club. Batting first, Lions RFC floundered at 115 in 26.4 overs as Abbas and Tanveer bowled well.
Khurram and Sadiq (24 not out) hit up most of the runs to see off the Lions’ challenge.
Doha Club cantered to a seven-wicket rout against Bangladesh Club after bowling out the opponents for 61.
Damith led the collapse with four scalps, while Noor and Talha picked three wickets each to end the innings in 20.5 overs.
Doha Club needed only 11 overs to overhaul the target.
