DOHA: The Ministry of Interior's Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department has referred three persons to the Public Prosecution for inciting tribal strife on social media.

The action comes after the relevant authorities gathered enough evidence on the suspects' social media activities, finding them liable for a criminal offense in accordance with the provisions of the laws in force.

The ministry has renewed its call to "refrain from stirring up strife and to strive for national cohesion” among members of the various community.

MOI has previously said that some individuals seek to misuse different forms of media to sow divisions and hatred in society, adding that it will take legal action against all those who try to undermine unity which threatens security, stability and social peace.
