DOHA: Students at Birla Public School have brought laurels to the institution by winning the runner-up award at the Students Short Film Contest organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) Film Club, Qatar.
The short film, titled “The Weights We Carry,” distinguished itself among more than 40 entries submitted by Indian students across Qatar. After earning a coveted spot among the top thirteen finalists, the film went on to win the second-best short film award, bringing great pride to the institution.
A testament to student creativity and initiative, the film is a remarkable student-led project directed and written by Drishti Jain of Grade 10, who also played the lead role and co-edited the project.
She collaborated with Raj Dave (Grade 12), who served as the videographer and co-editor, and Benita Biju (Grade 10), who contributed as an actress and co-writer.
The young team worked collaboratively to craft a powerful narrative that impressed both the jury and captivated the audience during the final screening held at the ICC on 30 November.
In recognition of their exceptional effort and cinematic excellence, the team was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of QR1,500. The principal along with the senior leadership team and the entire school community, lauded the students on their achievement.
