Doha: Students of Shantiniketan Indian School (SIS) celebrated Keralappiravi with enthusiasm and excitement using the virtual Zoom platform. Kerala Day also referred to as Keralappiravi, marks the birth of the state of Kerala in southern India. The programme titled ‘Keraleeyam’ was organised and conducted by the Department of Malayalam under the leadership of Prasad, Head of the Malayalam Department.

Students performed various programmes such as Classical Dance, Recitation, Mappilappattu, etc., echoing Kerala’s rich and varied culture and traditions.

Well-known writer M V Benny, who was the Guest Speaker at the event, had an interactive session. He answered the students’ questions that helped them identify their shortcomings and weaknesses. He also reminded the students about their social responsibilities and duties towards society. Principal Dr. Subhash Nair appreciated the hard work and enthusiasm of the students and teachers for conducting the programme even in this pandemic situation. Senior Vice-Principal Shihabuddeen Pulath urged the audience to respect the culture and traditions and strengthen unity and togetherness.

KC Abdul Latheef, President of the SIS School Management Committee, attended the event alongside the heads of school, teachers, and the audience members.
