Public Relations awards to be presented in Doha today

The Golden World Awards for Excellence in the field of Public Relations arranged by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) will be presented in Doha today.

The ceremony will witness distribution of awards to the most excellent individual and organizations in this domain, celebrating public relations accomplishments around the word in different categories. For the first time ever outside Europe, the event will be held in Doha Marriott Hotel, sponsored by Qatar Electricity and Water Co, while Qatar Airways is the Official Airline of The IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence 2016, transporting the delegates and officials participating in the event from all over the world.

Katara Hospitality, as the main supporter of the event, has provided all logistic services, while Qatar Center for Voluntary Activities has provided a team of volunteers.

"Hosting GWA ceremony by Doha is very important in many senses. To host the event in Doha is a strong motive to public relations sector, and it also opens horizons to local and GCC companies, and gives them the opportunity to participate in these global awards, especially that participation in the award by Arab countries is still under expectations," Jassim Fakhroo, board member and representative of East Asia in IPRA, said.

"Moreover, holding the event in Doha is an opportunity to improve skills of PR staffs through exchanging experiences with PR leaders and PR strategies experts around the world," he added.

Fakhroo said that the event attracts PR leaders from all over the world and this gives them access to Doha's renaissance, so that they can weigh the importance of PR investments in Qatar and the GCC.

The award was launched by IPRA in 1990, and it is an annual recognition of PR programmers in various categories. And recipients of the award take particular pride in the recognition granted to their entry as meeting international standards of excellence in public relations. And though there are many national and regional PR awards, there is only one truly global award: the GWA.

The awards will be distributed to 60 winners from all over the world, at an average of two winners in each award, including thirty categories in different areas of public relations for agencies and individuals, such as: Business-to-business-communication; Research; Community relations; Consumer PR; Corporate communications; Corporate responsibility; Digital media relations; Research management; Event management; Environmental excellence; Financial services & investor relations; Healthcare; Internal communications; International PR campaign; Launch of a new product; Launch of a new services and Online crisis communications etc.

The celebration will start at 7pm. with a reception which will be attended by guests from all over the world, followed by a dinner where the President Bart de Vries is delivering a speech, and thereafter the winners will be announced by the Secretary General Philip Sheppard, then the Golden Awards will be distributed.
