DOHA: The government yesterday decided to prepare plans and detailed programmes that guarantee putting the directives of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as enshrined in his address to the 44th ordinary session of the Advisory Council on Tuesday, into effect through a single, integrated vision, reports Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani directed the ministers, each in their capacity, to put plans in place and details programmes which ensure that the directives of the Emir are translated into practice.
The PM chaired the cabinet’s regular weekly meeting at the Emiri Diwan, which, at the outset, reviewed the Emir’s address to the Advisory Council that contained important directives.
QNA said the Emir’s address provided broad guidelines to carry on the development process in the coming phase on all fronts.
The cabinet reviewed the Emir’s directives to the ministers and those working on the national development strategy in and out of the state apparatus in order to achieve its goals through a working plan. It also reviewed the Emir’s assertion on the necessity of achieving financial and economic stability by fostering competitiveness, monitoring prices, promoting the role of the private sector and attracting investments.
After that, the Cabinet reviewed topics on the agenda and took a set of decisions and measures.
It approved a draft law on land transport of dangerous materials, with the bill including provisions related to regulations of practising land transfer of dangerous materials, conditions of practising the work of transport provider, types of licences, duties of the licensees, conditions of granting licences to transport vehicles, fees for licence issuance, expiry and cancellation, and insurance of cross border transport of dangerous materials.
The Cabinet endorsed an Emiri draft decision on Hamad Port that specified the marine borders of the port according to the map and coordinates attached to the decision.
In addition, the Cabinet ratified a draft agreement on cooperation and integration in the field of earthquakes and geophysics between Civil Aviation Authority (Qatar Meteorology Department) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research.
It also endorsed draft agreements between the government of Qatar and the governments of Venezuela and Cuba to waive visa for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports.
